I like to watch the old british comedies on PBS during weekends. Things like Are You Being Served and that one that I can never remember the name of, the one with the wife named Hyacinth, and the sister named Rose. Refresh my memory on its name?
Head Full of Crazy
keeping up apperiances

are you being served is great though, shame about the crappy spin off series
QueenofthePosers
I know nothing about British tv except for The Office, which I love.

I haven't seen the spinoff, but that's america for you. I started watching it becaue my grandmother did, and it's just hilarious.

I think I like KUA because Hyacinth can be so cutting with only couple words.
Tempe Arizona
"Steptoe and Son" is an oldie that goes back to the 1970s, but I've seen a few eps and love it!
HelloLover86
Oh oh, what about the Vicor of Dibley??? It is hilarious.

OMG, the Vicar is awesome! Dawn French rocks. And I love "Keeping Up Appearances." Hmm, maybe it's more of a girl's show?

BTW, Dawn French was the Fat Lady in the Painting in the 3rd Harry Potter movie

I just realized that today, sadly. They played the episode where April (?) gets married today. I nearly wet myseld when the teletubbies walked down the aisle.

Her name's Alice. That's one of my fav eps! It was outrageously funny tongue.gif
HelloLover86
Am I the only one in the entire world that doesn't like monty python? I just don't get it.
Tempe Arizona
Oh gosh, I thought I was the only one that doesn't get monty python! Each of those guys on their own are funny. But together, they're blah. I love random, but they don't even succeed at that. Someone do tell me what's so funny about monty python

Yes yes, randomness has its limits. I would like to know.

vicor of dibley is a poor mans farther ted

after watching farther ted you have no need for any vicor of dibley
HelloLover86
But this vicar is a woman, so it's funnier.

Pandy, would you explain the point of monty python?
Head Full of Crazy
i was never much into monty python either

it was before my time thus never got into it

the movies have far more of a cult status then the show ever did

dawn french is amazing, but farther ted is just pure genious
HelloLover86
Yes, the movies were good. Agreed.

I love both those shows! The brits are so good at joking about religion without insulting it. The dude who plays father ted is awesome.

he sadly died a number of years ago

and a high % of irish people hate farther ted due to its content
Tempe Arizona
No! That's so sad. That guy is wonderful. Ha, I could see why the Irish would hate that show. My fav ep for some reason was the one where all these rabbits kept popping out.

The guy who plays Dougal is also in a britcom called "My Hero." But I could never get into that show. It was kinda like a Mork and Mindy wanna be, and even that show wasn't too good.
Head Full of Crazy
thank goodness someone else doesnt like my hero

that show is pure crap

its got a new main person now though

It's an anagram of "Dr. Who."
And wasn't it supposed to start this month or something? Let me know how it goes.

UK/British Shows that I like:
Coupling
Father Ted
Monty Python
Dr. Who(old and new series)
Absolutely Fabulous (although I could never make sense of it)
The Office
Whose Line is it Anyway? (The American version sucks big time)
The Young Ones
Benny Hill! (I love that one song they always play, haha)
What Not to Wear(only cause I get can a glimpse of modern day living over there, since I kinda want to live there - I mean, there's no adverts on the BBCs! Reason alone! c'maan!)
Some of those redecorating shows they have on BBC America sometimes. I don't know the names, but they're fun to watch. Not that I get BBC America, but I will glue myself to my friend's couches sometimes since they do have it, haha.

There's probably more that I've forgotten also. I'll list them when they come to me.

Radio Shows from back in the day:
Dr. Who
The Phantom
Jellobomb
Um i don't watch too much british television but from i've watched and loved:
Ed vs. Spencer
Extras
QI
BB7
and Popworld when Simon and Maquiel(sp?) were on.
I think the new hosts are alright, Alex is very good looking but he's not even close to being as fantastic as Simon.
giggleguy
I love brit telly.

The it crowd finished on wednesday, which makes me sad 'cause it's so awesome.

The Mighty Boosh is officially the best british show ever, closely followed by Red Dwarf, Ab Fab, French and Saunders, The Office, Extras (The second series of extras should be shown here soon)

Oh and I'm going to Little Britain Live at the end of the year

But yeah, whoever hasn't seen the mighty boosh hasn't lived yet
Head Full of Crazy
little briton is crap and over rated and over hyped

mighty boosh is amaingness on toast

as is QI
Head Full of Crazy
i bring bad news for david tennent fans

he is leaving docter who

Wait.... what? He can't leave Doctor Who. He is the best doctor that show ever had. And the cutest!

Spaced is the best British TV show ever. It is the funniest thing I have seen. I also love QI (I got the book for Christmas, it's excellent), Red Dwarf and Monty Python. I was actually raised on Monty Python (and Rocky Horror Picture Show), so I pretty much love it!
But I can't stand The Office or Father Ted though. Or Little Britain *shudders*

CE was far greater the DT

imo..

hes leaving midway though season 4, season 3 is on in the spring

robin hood is also amazing, mainly due to the nottinghamness of it though
geezabird
Ok, this may be me being a Doctor Who nerd, but I thougt that time lords can only regenerate 12 times. So the one after David Tennant will be the penultimate doctor. So they'll have to end it soon.
*feels lame*
Head Full of Crazy
see you say that, but im sure i read that CE had to have been the last one due to that rule

also the makers have said that the rule never was there in the first place!

they are doing a WWE on the matter
geezabird
Ah, see I know CE was the ninth, because I played the Doctor Who sudoku on the website, and he was number nine.
Lmfao, I should really shut up! laugh.gif

But I know Torchwood has signed up for another series. Hopefully, Owen will die or something, then Ianto can take over his place, cos Ianto owns!
Head Full of Crazy
from the crimbo ep, tourchwood is a bad company?

cause ive not seen any off it
geezabird
Well, they were bad in the last episode of the series as well, with the evil lady who was in Eastenders. Cos they were trying to capture the Doctor and stuff
But, in Torchwood TV show they're good, cos they go around fighting alien bad guys and protecting things etc
Head Full of Crazy
yeah ive just wiki'ed it

i really want to watch it now....hmmm, ill wait for the dvds i guess
giggleguy
Ahh, Emmett has just remembered another show which should take everybody's breath away, well, due to the content of this show, it would be more likely that it takes your breath away by punching you in the gut.

The show that I am talking about, being the best show ever conceived by man, is none other than Shameless.

Shit, if you haven't seen Shameless, you haven't lived.

Also, Secret Policemens Ball had the mighty boosh on it, which made it awesome.

It also had Russell Brand, who is almost as cool as Noel Fielding and Julian Barrat.

Pandrew, are you a fan of Shameless?
Jellobomb
this isn't british tv, but i like the band The Horrors and they'er British. They're also really fucking cool looking. Actually most ofmy favorite bands are British, but I just wanted to specifically mention The Horrors as I'm like in love with their guitarist.

I watched that! It was awesome. My mate is getting me the DVD for my birthday. Love him! The guy that did the Natalie Imbruglia song was amazing! And the Cluedo piss take with Jessica Stevenson asking if he was gonna do anymore Argos adverts. And the guy with the candle stick... "stand back, he's got a candle stick!" laugh.gif
*is rambling*

Did you watch 'The Big Fat Quiz of 2006' on C4? It had Russell Brand & Noel Fielding on the same team. They were too cute!

Yay! Someone else watched it! Yay! There were a couple of really crap acts on there, such as: Chevy Chase, most of the musical acts, but the rest was awesome!

I'm so envious of you getting the dvd! I don't even think they'll release it here in Australia.

I don't know what C4 is, so no, damn, it sounds like it would've been great!

P.S Doctor Who is the shiz.

HHAHAHA YAY FOR DR WHO NERDS!

Yeah, Time Lords can only regen 12 times. I kind of worried what they're gonna do if they continue the series after him, since I'm sure that'll piss off all the oldie fans. Maybe they can do a spinoff of Romanadvoratrelundar(or did they already do that in the 70s? Wait, that may have been of K9, actually) Continue the Time Lord story or something.

So I know the UK people have seen the Christmas special "The Runaway Bride," but did anyone else not in UK see it, or am I the only super nerd to have gone and DLed it already? Because that was a fantastic episode and I want to talk about it but not accidentally spoil it for anyone.
geezabird
C4 = channel 4, a UK channel

And yay, Doctor Who nerds! Personally, I love the show but I think they should stop it after then 12th doctor, or it would just be silly! And they've already got 2 spin-off shows (Torchwood and whats-her-face adventures, Sarah Jane or something like that (being shown tomorrow in the UK))
And I saw the Christmas one, but I am in the UK after all! But my mate in Wales is downloadign the show and is gonna send a copy to me on DVD. <3
Kikky
I should correct myself, since I just said some completely inaccurate information(I just woke up, my brain isn't working yet). I even called my dad to check with another Who fan, haha.

Tennant is actually the 10th doctor(Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, Baker, Davison, Baker, McCoy, McGann, Eccleston, Tennant). Therefore there's room for three more doctors, since regenning 12 times would therefore produce 13 doctors. Though, in a few of the books and earlier episodes with Tom Baker, the doctor lost and gained some times to regen(so it's kind of a tricky situation since I don't remember exactly how many he lost/gained from back then).

And I still need to see Torchwood! Sarah Jane's back in the show? I thought they just brought her back for that one episode..wait! Does that mean K9's back again too? AHH! Now I'm excited. haha. laugh.gif
geezabird
Sarah Jane has a spin-off show, with K9. It's on UK telly tomorrow apparently. At least I think it's tomorrow. And she was in one episode last series as well, yeah
And Torchwood is most awesome. I watch it every week.
Jellobomb

Coupling is amazing untill jeff, the welsh one leaves

there was a american vershon made, like the office..but it is completely useless and is forever mocked by everyone inside the comedy industry for being useless
geezabird
Nah, I don't like Shameless either. And I've never seen Coupling
But I stand by my comment that Spaced is the best ever British sitcom

why are they getting rid of quizmania!

this is horrible sad news
